Lib Dem campaign for crossing in Avon DriveCampaign for Pedestrian Crossing in Avon Drive

As a result of our campaign, Lib Dems have succeeded in getting the pedestrian crossing placed on the five year plan for works in Brickhill and the crossing should be constructed within the next three years. However we are now campaigning to have this brought forward. Lib Dems have asked for special funding to be put towards this project to enable it to happen sooner. Brickhill Parish Council supported this move in their meeting in April 2008. We will keep you posted

Crossing the road in Brickhill can be dangerous enough already, speeding cars make it hazardous especially for elderly residents and children. The new 500 homes in the North Brickhill estate will add to the amount of traffic. Brickhill Liberal Democrats have launched a campaign to make roads safer in Brickhill. Their first call is for a pedestrian crossing in Avon Drive, outside the shops.

In 1995 Brickhill resident Mr Frank Munns died after being struck by a car crossing Avon Drive. With rising traffic levels, such accidents are more likely in the future. Local resident Steve Jones is the grandson of Mr Munns and is supporting the campaign for a pedestrian crossing.
