Roads and Pavements

Liberal Democrats often receive criticism for our campaigns to make roads safer by pointing at potholes! However we understand that large potholes and uneven pavements are not just unsightly they are dangerous. Pedestrians can suffer severe injuries and if cyclists encounter a pothole it can have serious consequences.

To report problems with roads and pavements contact Borough Highways or telephone the Borough Highways helpdesk 01234 228661

A member of the Customer Service Team will respond to your issue within 2 working days with advice, guidance, and a report number where action may be required. Technicians then have the following timescales to inspect your issue and decide the best course of action:

  1. Potholes, surface defects, kerbing, general highway faults - 5 working days from the date of our reply
  2. Streetlighting faults - 10 working days from the date of our reply
  3. All requests for new additions to the Highways, eg: signs, lines, etc - 20 working days from the date of our reply

Pedestrian Crossing for Avon Drive

crossing badly needed in Avon Drive

In 1995 Brickhill resident Mr Frank Munns died after being struck by a car crossing Avon Drive. With rising traffic levels, such accidents are more likely in the future. Local resident Steve Jones is the grandson of Mr Munns and is supporting the campaign for a pedestrian crossing.

As a result of our campaign, Lib Dems have succeeded in getting the pedestrian crossing placed on the five year plan for works in Brickhill and the crossing should be constructed within the next two years. However we are now campaigning to have this brought forward. Lib Dems have asked for special funding to be put towards this project to enable it to happen sooner. Brickhill Parish Council supported this move

Campaign for proper roads maintenance

Torridge Rise is currently the worst road in Brickhill

Your Liberal Democrat Focus Team are constantly reporting issues concerning highways. Lack of proper maintenance by the Tory Controlled County Council, has left our roads crumbling and in need of constant repair. Please advise us if you see pot holes in the roads or pavements - we will get them fixed. For road repairs tell us the road and location and preferably which number house is close by.
