Street Trading
The Authority is in receipt of an application for a new Street Trading Consent outside the Town Centre. The applicant has previously held a consent for all consent streets throughout the borough at which they may stop for a maximum of 20 minutes before moving on, as well as 8 longer stay locations at which the applicant may stay on specific dates and times.

Locations: All consent streets outside the town centre throughout Bedford Borough (short stay locations, maximum of 20 minutes duration), and 12 long stay locations as follows;

The following conditions would be added with respect to any consent granted for all consent streets outside of the town centre. Please note that these would not be applied to the long-stay locations as specifically listed above;
1. As from 19 December 1983 ‘street trading’ is prohibited in the following streets:- De Parys Avenue, Bedford, (from its junction with Burnaby Road to its junction with The Broadway) and Foster Hill Road, Bedford, (from its junction with Princes Street to its junction with The Broadway).
2. No trading is authorised on The Embankment, Goldington Road, Kimbolton Road, Ampthill Road, Elstow Road, Bushmead Avenue, Hillgrounds Road.
3. No trading is authorised on a street/road designated for one way traffic.
4. No trading is authorised on any street/road in which there is an educational establishment or medical facility.
5. No trading is authorised in any Council park or open space.
6. No trading is authorised within 250m of the entrance to any Council park or open space.
7. No trading is authorised within 750m of an existing street trader.
8. Stopping time at any one location will be limited to 20 minutes which includes setting up, trading and clearing away (this will not apply to locations where consent is granted to trade for more than 20 minutes).
9. No return to any one location within 24 hours.
10. Where trading is to be undertaken on land not owned by the Council proof of written consent from the landowner must be presented to the Council prior to the commencement of trading.
